Presentations from 'Nutrition and the older person - meals do matter' seminar July 2011.
The Foundation was delighted to host a seminar in Hamilton in July, presenting the latest research into keeping our seniors well by making meals matter. Topics covered were good food and nutrition for older people, the increasingly important role of Vitamin D and how to use team work to make those meals matter.
Our four speakers, all with vast experience in this area, spoke about their latest work.
- Dr Carol Wham discussed 'The latest Food and Nutrition Guidelines for older people',
- Dr Pamela von Hurst discussed 'Is Vitamin D the new wonder nutrient?',
- Kaye Dennison shared the results of her work in Waitemata 'It takes a team - combating malnutrition through professional collaboration' and
- Julian Jensen's research in rest homes throughout New Zealand gave practical advice as well as the latest literature findings 'What else is needed for good nutrition? The dining environment in New Zealand rest homes'.
